Sharon Bajer

Sharon is a director and actress who has been based in Winnipeg since 1990. Sharon is the author of several plays including Burnin’ Love and Molly’s Veil, which premiered at Winnipeg’s Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE). Her plays Scrabble from the Apple and Going Home premiered at the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre (Going Home played at the Haifa International Children’s Festival in Israel). Her new musical Hersteria was commissioned and presented by Winnipeg Studio Theatre and enjoyed a sold out run at the 2011 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. She is also the creator of two one-woman shows, Jesus Does Laundry Too (developed at Vancouver’s Tamahnous Theatre and premiered at Theatre Projects Manitoba) and The Mother Load (premiered at the World Next Door Festival).

Sharon was nominated for the John Hirsch Award for Most Promising Manitoba writer in 2002 and Molly’s Veil was nominated for the Eileen McTavish Sykes Award for Best New Book by a Manitoba Author. 

Sharon is a member of PTE’s inaugural Playwright’s Unit, where she is currently developing a new play, The Fourth World. Sharon is also being commissioned by the Manitoba Theatre Centre for a full length version of her comedy, Scrabble from the Apple

Manitoba audiences have enjoyed over twenty-five productions at the Prairie Theatre Exchange (includingThe Secret MaskHere on the Flight PathMarion BridgeZadie’s ShoesThe Stone AngelMarvin’s Roomand The Edible Woman) and numerous plays at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre  including August: Osage CountyTop Girls, Steel Magnolias, Humble Boy,Of Mice and MenAngels in America and Six Degrees of Separation.
